    Default intro

    Hi! I'm Decula and I'm a DiscusHolic.
I've only been a hobbyist for less than a year.
Male, Okie, in my 50s. Wife, Saundra is my inspiration.

I had tropicals as a kid, and then inherited a tank in
my 30's when my best friend died of cancer at an all
    too early age. Mostly Gouramis.

I like technical challenges, have enjoyed ham radio and
electronics as hobbies. I pay the bills by doing computer
"stuff" for a kids hospital. I find network security issues
pretty much fascinating and try to keep up with whats
changing in that field. I tend to use Linux and avoid
    MS products whenever possible.

    Hi Decula,

Nice to see an Okie on the Homestead.

Sorry to hear about your friend.

Do you have any pics of your set up you currently have?

My dad was an old ham operator. He had a thirty foot antena he would crank up before he would turn his base unit on. I can remember talking to a guy in New York once. I remember once he was trying to reach over seas so he added an extention to his antena and some other devices, I do not know what exactly, to have more power to transmitting and receiving. Everytime he turned it on we would get all kinds of calls for all the enterference he was causing with TV's and radios.

    Take care,
    Wade

thank you wadewc. I've been trying to get my camera to cooperate
but it's been fighting all the way
Turning off the flash helped a bunch - but slowing
down the exposure time was a bad idea.
I did get the guys on the left for the avatar
    so things are improving.

Thanks DiscusKev! Whoa - I saw your post about your local
fish shop. Very nice samples on their
web page. a 95 pound discus??? hehehehe

David Rose: That only iTrade is with you, my friend!
I missed putting your link for Levamisole
on my notes - DOH! I start off slow,
cause I like to watch for a bit. I'm so
    impressed by this whole community.

Seeing that you have quite a few tanks make me want some more too lol. I have got quite a few tanks too, but only have 1 tank in use for growing up juveniles (the others are just running with no fish, I'm getting the 'Empty Tank Syndrome' haha, but I have reasons for and against on getting some more discus Time shall answer my problem)

Some go as far as £100+, these are mainly show quality discus though.

Wish I new ya'll were into Linux....here at work we are in the process of taking all of our code from SCO Unix to Red Hat Linux. Not going to bad but you have to remember most of our stuff. have C, java script, HTML, and some other assorted stuff all in one program. We have about 10 million lines of code and I have forgotten exactly how many programs.

Might want to have a look at this - if you haven't already, John.
It used to be call iBCS and I had successfully ran the SCO btree
engine binary on a Slackware Linux box. It's now at:
