    Default Alenquer Cross

Got 2 of these from Kenny's July II shipment. Like usual, I wasn't planning on anymore fish and then Kenny posts the preview thread and as soon as I saw the Striated Alenquers go up I emailed him and told him i NEEDED 2 of these fish lol. I've been looking for some nice wild crosses or wild type crosses for a while. Very very pleased with these. Probably my favorite fish out of all the shipments i've gotten from Kenny and Forrest. Hopefully I get a pair, but if not I'm thinking of getting some nice wilds from Hudson and Hans this season and maybe I can find some mates for them. It'll be easy to find something to go with these. Or i'll see what else Kenny brings in. Here are some pictures, I'd take more tonight but I need to get a battery for my flashes first so that will have to wait.

Thanks Eddie and Rod on the recommendation of the colormax bulbs, these are great. Still getting used to shooting photography under them but they really show off the fish well.

Hope you don't mind a really large picture, best effect if you see it large.
    -Matt

    Matt,

Looking good bro! Since I didn't check the sex of these two fish when picking them out from my preview pics I'm not sure whether they are a M and a F...but I do hope that they turn out to be a pair for you! All the best great photos as always Matt!

    Thanks,
    Kenny

    Kenny,

Can you tell us what went into the breeding of these fine fish (alanquer x) or is that a forrest trade secret?

Are the solids like I got from the same parents as the striated ones?

I am thinking my cross with my solid and a brown based red turk/scribble might produce something very close to Discus-Noobs gorgeous fish.

Sorry to hijack your thread Noob, gorgeous fish, I debated long and hard when deciding between the solid and the striated. May I ask what kelvin rating are your colormax bulbs, and what camera/settings do you use?

Its no problem Kenny, I got the 2 I wanted to look at, pair or no pair! If it ends up to not be a pair I'll be forced to get more fish to pair them with...OH DARN

No problem at all. I'm interested as well. Not sure on the K rating, I believe its close to an actinic bulb....except more useful for general viewing.

At the risk of further hijacking Noob's thread:

One 6" Alanquer cross (solid) from Kenny's July II shipment with mate and eggs.

There you go Barb (sorry Noob, couldn't resist)

Pictures a bit blurry didnt want to disturb them too much.

Yours looks very nice, nice shape and color to it. I hope to see the same thing soon!

I gave them some mosquitoes today, trying to see how if that does anything for them.

    Thanks Rod!

It seems like they are Male/Female by behaviors but still need more time to tell. "She" will get attentive when "he" swims closer...but he gets kinda pushy and always nudges the other one away. So its possible that I either have 2 males or a male and female. The large one i'd be willing to bet is a male and thats what I chose him as from the photos....the other one I took a chance on because I loved the color and pattern.

Two females will also exhibit that behavior, alot more often then you may think, trust me . Why didn't you just ask kenny to sex them for you (he won't gurantee it but he is pretty darn good)? At any rate, you can't lose out on such beutifull fish, regardless of thier sex!
