Jennie,

8 months of winter yuck? That is why I am glad I don't live west of Chicago anymore which is were I am from. Kentucky winters are mild we might get a dusting of snow once or twice all winter. Wonder what I can do different to maybe get them growing faster. If they are suppose to grow a inch a month until 3 inches I am a couple inches behind.

I started out with six juvies at about 2 and a half inches, 3 of them cobalts and the other 3 flachens, all in the same color family (blue).
In about 10 weeks I grew them to about 4 1/2 inches, the biggest one was a hair short of 5" and the smallest one a hair under 4", so in average they grew an inch every 5 weeks, pretty good rate I think, all stendker bloodlines.
Fed them lots of BH and flakes and color bits in between.
David
hmm that's not really growing much.

You might have started with stunted fish. If you did, all the food and clean water in the world wouldn't make them grow much. You should post some pics and we can probably tell you if they look stunted. Pics from when you first got them and pics from now would be most helpful. How much water are you changing daily? What are your water parameters?
