You should post your method here for the OP to see. I've used the freezer method before and after having done that Maybe that was not the best. I prolonged the suffering.

1) Place fish in container
2) Add 10 drops clove oil/gallon
3) When anesthetic takes effect(usually within 20min)increase clove oil 5X

Fish will usually expire within a couple of hours. If you have any doubts..leave overnight in container.

A shotgun is the quickest and least painful way to end a fishys misery. anything involving suffocating a fish in oil or freezing seems too time consuming and prolongs the suffering. I wish i could be the fishes shoes and experience death with all these methods and come back to tell you which one was Best.

Clove oil puts them gently to sleep. I mix around 6 or 7 drops in a cup of water, shake, put the fish in a gallon or less, and slowly add the clove oil mix. If you add too much all at once they will stress.
