wow, so it hangs out on top, huh. So they don't nurse?
My brothers jaguar rays gave birth to there first pup this weekend. The parents are a 15" female and 13" male. The pup was born sometime friday night and is about 4" and eating earthworms right now. Here are some pics of the parents and baby. My brother very excited since so many people told him they were not mature enough to start breeding. Guess they were wrong

My brother was telling me that most of the time they have there first pups they just have one. But after that they can have 3-5 pups each litter. Not sure how easy they are to breed this is his first time at this and he wasn't expecting this to happen. Most of the other big ray people out there in the world told him his rays weren't mature enough to start breeding but it happened.
we need pictures of that pup !!

That's just way cool!!!
When science and magic collide, the story begins.
I can do that
I know it isn't even my rays but I was just as excited as he was when I got over there Saturday morning and seen it. I have a male hystrix and this pup is a female. So I already have claimed it for my tank but not so sure my brother is going to give it up that easy.
Do rays normaly care for their young? Just wondering if he separated it from the parents because the parents will harm it or because the parents are too immature to be trusted with it.
