Default 200 gal tank what canaster filter would you reccomend?

Its going to be a low tech plated tank with about 12 discus in it and some tetras and bottom dwellers.

Looking for silent operation and ease of use.
    Thanks

Hello.200g is a big tank to go with canisters best thing is to go with a sump.If by any reason you cant, i would put 2 big canisters like Eheim pro3 2080 or Fluval FX5 (preferably the Eheim). The number of fish you are considering are more than ok but still i wouldnt go for less than 2 big canisters at this size.

Thanks for the reply as a matter of fact I already have a sump. This is a converted marine tank. However my sump is not a wet dry filter. So i was thinking of keeping some submerge bio balls in the flow area and keeping the two filter sox's. Its also a great place to hide my heaters .
I leaning toward the fx-5 i can get one on fee bay for under 200
Just not sure how loud they are.

On a side note i was kicking around adding a reverse flow sand filter in my sump just for some added bi filter or just stay with the submerge bio balls Any thoughts?

The sump is going to be a heck of easier to use than a canister. You have to take a dang canister apart to clean them. PITA!

Although I' have no experience with them, I'm intrigued by the Kaldnes media systems for sumps. some discussion of Dale Jordan's system, here-

So am I. I've been sitting here trying to figure out how I could make this work on my 55 gal. sump. Do you know if Dale Jordan uses mechnical before the Kaldnes bio? I'm still trying to figure this out in my head.

Hi I have a 180 with a Nu clear canister (not Ocean Clear) filter. The tank is in my liveingroom wall and i can't hear it. It's been going for over 10 years . I have 2 inline in my QT one 25 sq ft cartridge then a 40 sq ft. What I like is you add the pump. Each tank has a over head wet dry. Cleaning any canister is a job if have a small load the sump may be better.

I also have a large tank, tho not 200, it's a 125. Two Eheim filters, one a 2028, the other a 2026. Totally silent. Easy to clean.

I went with the fluval xl5 so far so good I also have a sump on the tank.
I used small bio balls to fill the two chambers in the fluval and left one to change around as I see fit.
Currently the third chamber has charcol to remove the tannans from my drift wood.
