    You can cut regular plate glass with any diamond bit, as long as you keep it wet and cool. If it runs dry, you'll ruin it in just a few seconds. The only difference between the cheap bits and the expensive ones is the quality. The cheap ones will wear out much quicker. Not an issue if you're only drilling a few holes.

    I purchased a whole set of diamond hole saws off ebay for 20 bucks, they burn thru glass.

    Thanks Ralph, I didnt apply any force, just the weight of the drill. I got little chip off on the inside, but I imagine the gasket goes on the outside so it should be good.
    i think the bulkhead gasket goes on the inside of the tank.
