Default My first fry and a cross.

Bought some Stendker tefe's from Hans and some wild Japura greens from Snookn21. Got a pair out of the Stendkers and the other two turned out to both be females. I started thinking..............since the tefe is a domestic that Stendker created to look like a wild, why not mate the with a wild. I put one of the females with a beautiful Nahmunda semi blue. Have the 3rd batch of eggs right now but no success yet.

I put the other female in with 4 Japura greens I got from Snookn21. Only took a couple of days till she picked one out.

I took the other two out of the tank and sure enough they spawned. First try and they got it right. Well, I did use a screen. This is my first successful spawn also. Great feeling. Here they are with the fry.

I am really excited to see how this cross will turn out. I don't know genetics but I think it is going to be really nice.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the compliments. I will definitely update with pics down the road. Now if I can just get the tefe x Nahmunda to cooperate. Pictures don't do him justice. He is a really great looking blue.

The Tefe and the Nahmunda look amazing in person. Honestly, side by side, the tefe looks 100% wild.

And the fry look stunning, it's amazing how well those two are doing at parenting.

Larry I also offer my congratulations and wish you much success raising thr fry fro your various pairs. I haope you get some no-hybrid breeders, too. Getting various species strains established is desirable before we create a lot of hybrids but we will have uses for both pure strains and wild hybrids.

Ain't that the truth. They have been laying eggs about every 5 or 6 days.

It will indeed be fun seeing what they look like. I think they will be fantastic but what else would I think, lol.

A cigar wouldn't do me much good either, lol. Thanks. They would certainly fit the rule for your tank.........no two alike.
