I don't think I can comment on any other suppliers since I've only purchased malaysia fish from Kenny. He imports top grade spotted and yellow strains on regular basis. you can check his sponsor section to see what he offers in the past years. I ordered 5 times from him and all the fish are very nice, healthy and sturdy. and i doubt if anybody else could offer better customer than what Kenny does.

of course if you are looking for classic strains like turquoise, german fish are very nice as well. I don't know if there is any yellow discus bred in germany, and there has not been many years since german start breeding relatively novel spotted strains like leopards and leopard snakeskins. people in different regions have different tastes on discus I guess.

From everything that has been posted on here with in the last yr or so longer there has been only one bad purchase of fish and not from SD sponsers. The discus fish that is offered from the sponsers on here are of the best!!!! No matter where they came from. The other part is if "you" properly care for them.

$20 or less usually does mean smaller fry. Smaller than quarter sized...Bill

Scribbles spots and colors of all diff kinds can be had.
They can be called whatever people want to call them,
diff. names for the same looking fish..

Discus fish have been bred first here or there. But move in the
global market, and breed at there new homes.

Plenty of pic. here on this site to view. Have fun.

Beals discus are definatly Asian and very very hardy. if they are healthy and taken care of properly it does not matter where they where bred!!!

Matt, sounds like you're looking for fish that won't get sick on you...you'll be searching for looooooong time if that's the case.. discus respond to clean healthy environments, regardless of whether german or asian bred...and even with the best care and best stock..they still sometimes get sick! your best bet is to figure out what you really want in a fish, how much effort to give and choose a sponsor here that meets your needs!
    Jennie,

Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten
