    Hello

It's been a few months since I was here. But wanted to come back to this thread to
give an update. For about 3 or 4 months my Heckels were in the dark. Literally.
They just wouldn't come out from hiding. Asked a few questions about it here and there
and tried some things, but to no avail. I really thought something was wrong with them.
I've had a couple for about a year and a half, so they should be settled. Anyway I decided
to change the background color to make the water appear tan like the amazon. With the
black background they remained dark in color. As soon as I made the change the Heckels
came to life, and were coming up to me at the front. They would pace also until they got
fed. Now they are in my face all the time. They are happy and swimming. A lot different
than before. I changed my driftwood to make it a larger scape. I was trying to raise the
branches up at the water surface and fall down in the water, but they are a little large for
that. And it would have been hard to vacuum.

I found out the way to place larger pics on here. So to answer a early question, I've put in some larger
pics. Just an added note. I have been using ro water for water changes 70/30 tap. And I have noticed
more coloration. They really have some nice colors. Here are the larger pics.

That is very interesting. I currently have a blue back ground. I wonder if I should change and see how that would change how my fish behave.

    Yes, Yss,

I think I responded to one of your earlier posts about settling Heckels. I swear the change was like somebody turned on a
switch. And they have been doing great since then. Now they huddle up near the front when I come in the room, because
they want some food. Before when I came into the room, I had to look to see if they were still in the tank. I wanted to create
the color effect of the brown tannin amazon river. I think they feel right at home with this one. Try it! But don't peel off your
blue background. I would get some colored plastic, (thin sheet) and wedge it in the tank inside. I got mine from TAP PLASTICS,
    online. http://www.tapplastics.com/

Had some time on my hands, so I thought I would take a couple extra pictures.
Changed the scape again, because I am trying to conceal the piping.
Trying to get some pennywort to grow as floater, but no luck, so I found
a plastic one that helps. I think it looks natural.

I bought a clear and a white and tried those two, but then settled in on
the natural. It is on the light gray side.

It's been a little over a year since my last reply post.
Since then my clan of Heckels dwindled down to two,
and I almost lost one of those. He's my survivor.
I bought two blue faced Uninis and two blue faced
Heckels. I got them from John and I don't know where
they are from. I have some current pictures. Can anyone
tell me why they all color up the same without their
blue color faces. I have had them for about 5 months.
Will they color up more distinctly as they get older.

The camera took the color in this shot. I don't know where the blues came from

Here are some pics of an update with my tank of Heckles.
After a water change they exhibit some nice colors.
The dark one as been that way for quite awhile. Even though
it is the smallest. I think it might be female. And it has it's own
territory. I also have some colored led lights, one green and
one magenta. Tank is 60 gallon with driftwood.
Water change 75% and 25% aged tap.

No, I have lost about 4 of them.
I haven't been able to bring fish
back from sickness. I have noticed
that the wilds don't respond to
    medications. At least mine don't.
    Need to learn more.
But try to keep the count at 6.

What product did you order? Also, did you put it in the tank?
    Thanks
