yeah, I know. Color is not too interesting. Pretty much brown with a hue of blue or red depending where the light comes from. I'm planning on growing them out and placing them in a habitat tank - pretending they're (non-spooked and hungry) wilds :-)
Really interesting cross. The sight of them in updated pictures leaves me with a weird feeling. I really like them, but at the same time just kind of puzzled by them like I'm not sure what to make of them lol. I really like the mom though like everyone else.

The female looks very close to a Ica Red. There is a member that sells them on here that i got some fish from a couple of years ago.
Great fish.
I got 25 of them a few month back, laborelch is right, the color is not that interest. However, they all have good shape and very healthy. If you give them a lot of color bit, they show up some/little red. there are no way you can hide the lines. 9 bars for all fish
4 months right? still a little early in thier development and they still might develope more color.
would look real nice with some red in the middle. it still could develop red there
Perfect shapes! Absoutely beautiful fish. I agree that at just 4 months they have yet to develope their true color. You have done an excellent job with them.
Mama Bear
thanks! I'm pretty happy with their shapes as well. They're about 6 months now, 4-4.5". I have 50% with amber eyes and 50% with red eyes - any idea why? Dad has amber eyes, Mom's eyes are black. Some of them are showing red on the edges of their fins, some have blue striations in their faces. Overall body color is mainly brown ... curious how they will look like in 3-6 months. Been adding some paprika and superpig to their diet since my last batch of beefheart ...

Nice looking fish.
wow they look so unique, I wonder how they look like when they adult, may be some brown with some blue shine but they do have great shape. Are you saving some for your self?

Back to Discus grin:
Did you ever worm the fish from SRT? I would because of a past experience. Black eyes like that aren't the norm. She should have a red eye.
yes, they've all been wormed twice during QT and I feed medicated flake (Angel Plus) every couple of months. The red cover is the only fish with black (deep purple?) eyes I have. Had her for about 1.5 years and she is eating good and is fat and healthy (and very fertile) :-).
Kept 10 for grow out myself. 50% amber eyes, 50% red eyes. Will post updated pics soon.

How about more pictures of the Red cover??
Put both my red covers into a 30g breeder tonight. Trying to get a couple of good pics tomorrow...
Steffi
ok, drop and plop pics of my red cover and a ss in a 30g breeder as of tonight (thinking about something like Eddie's solid SS's in the future). Fish haven't colored up yet, but still, the red is pretty intense...
