Wow, thanks for the fish tour! Very nice, glad you let us see them all. And I remember your outside pond too. You sure do know your way around a fish tank and the discus and other fish and plants are just lovely.

Thanks Barb, I love it. I had been thinking about changing the background on the display to a lighter color but it just seems like way too much right now as my canopy and stand weigh every bit as much as my tank and the thought of moving it out from the wall to scrape off the black paint just does not sound like fun.

Yeah the outside pond is doing well too. The plants are starting to come in and the fish are on the move from the winter. I will have to update that thread in the coming weeks.

Thanks Eddie, all the fish i have in there currently came from Kenny. i initially set that tank up in the last picture to try my hand at breeding. I have 4 confirmed pairs in my display and was going to put a pair in there, but I just have not built up the confidence to do that just yet, so i put some driftwood in there for now. It can get awfully hormonal in my display though on a regular basis .
I would love to try some wilds but that tank is only a 33 long been have been contemplating putting some angels in there. I have a few in another tank and thought about making this tank a dedicated angel tank and maybe a few rams

Thanks! Yeah got all my wood from the same guy. Great stuff. I actually have a sweet peice in my tub right now that i have been debating using. Just not sure i want to replace anything at the moment.
That plant is a pothos. It is growing like crazy and it has several streamers that have rooted in the water and the waterfall basin.

Thank you. I had MH on there for a little over a year but recently switched to 2 double fixtures that house standard T8 bulbs 6500k. Each fixture houses 2 bulbs and has a pretty nice reflector. Got them from lowes. They are staggered at 48 inches each. I also have 2 48 inch t5 HO bulbs 10k on there as well that are staggered. I really like the ligths i currently have on there and they seem to be doing well for the plants. I also use underwater LED pond lights that are mounted in my canopy for moonlights. They are pretty sweet.
Over the next year i am going to be changing my lighting to the new evolution led light fixtures. I talked with Chris at reef koi and he is going to make them in a 75 white/ 25 blue blend. I am going to start with two of them and see how it goes. Gotta water those money trees first

    Hi!

Great tank. Especially only doing freshwater for awhile. Your plants look great.
How do you keep them free of algae. Can you share any secrets. I am having
algae problems with mine. Do you use any CO2 or ferts.

    Thanks

Hi and thanks for the compliments. I have been very lucky i guess. I have never really had many issues with much algae. I do use pressurized CO2 but i think i gas off a lot of it with the overflows. To be honest i really do not know much about it except for my friend set it up and i check it every now and then. I also dose PMDD mix but not near as regularly as i probably should, mainly when i think about it. I used eco complete to start with and not sure if that helped any.....12 bags! Other than that i do not do anything except for regular scheduled water changes. I use RO water so not sure if that makes any difference or not. I have really been learning as i go and learned a long time ago in my salt water adventures that sometimes the less you do the better off you are. I think i may clean my glass once every two weeks or more. I am knocking on wood right now though....LOL. My growth rate is probably not near what it should be but i am happy with it and i do have some green spot algae on some of the leaves but does not bother me and is only on a few. My main focus is the fish as long as the plants are surviving and growing i am happy.
