Beef Heart Sticker shock?

I pay $1 lb untrimmed here in NY from a local slaughterhouse frozen and vaccum sealed.

yeah , the hindu lady at the checkout counter is usually horrified when I make the beef heart purchase. and sometimes they ask what are you going to do with it!

I always told them it was for a pagan religious rite "since they made us stop using the human ones".

I picked up beefheart the other day same place I always get it, I have always paid 99cents a lb this time they said it was $1.99 a lb doubled nothing I can do though, what makes it even worse is out of 10 lbs after trimming it I got less than 3 lbs. These are different from the ones they got before they arw all fat!!!

After looking at this thread I figured my first order of beefheart (just got my first discus last week) would be around $1.99/lb. Well..... I paid $3.89/lb. For that price I might as well buy them a filet. I am going to be checking two other butchers in the area to see what they charge.

I paid $4 for Cleaned heart pieces I didn't quite get a pound either...but that's at food land (like big y or stop n shop over there)...and it's Hawaii for ya
