Problem
1. Please explain the problems with your fish/when and how they started
I have 6 new Cuipeua wild discus that arrived 9 days ago. Everything looked fine, until yesteday, when I did a WC in my 80g tank. I did not check the temperature of the storage barrel and it turns out it had not yet reached the 82 degrees of the tank water. As a result, there was a drop in the tank's temperature from 82 to 81. I thought it was not a big deal, but one of the four corydoras I have in the tank started scratching itself hard against the sand substrate right after the WC. Well, today the discus started scratching themselves against the driftwook and I can see white dots in their fins and body.
2. Symptoms (i.e. turning dark, excess slime, not eating, clamped fins, flashing, darting, clamped gills, white/yellow/green poop, hiding, headstanding or tailstanding, white on tips of fins, rotting or fungus, blisters/ white zits on fish, bloated, cloudy eyes, wounds)
White dots in fins and body, a bit of scratching against objects, sudden jumps.
3. What medications/ treatments that you have already tried and results. Include dosages and duration of treatment.
I have done nothing yet.
Tank/Water
4. Tank size and age, number and size of fish
New fully cycled 80 gallon tank (65 gallon total capacity). 6 adult discus, 4 corydoras, 10 red crystal tetras, 3 appistogramas, 1 L018 pleco.
5. Water change regime/ how long has tank been running/ bare bottom or gravel/ do you age your water?
Since the fish arrived I have done 50% WCs everyday. I age and air the water for 24hs, with the exception of yesterday, when I made the fatal mistake.
6 Parameters and water source;
- temp: 82
- ph: 6.4
- ammonia reading: 0
- nitrite reading: 0
- nitrate reading: 0
- well water: No
- municipal water: Yes
7. Any new fish/plants added recently
No
So, what should I do? Thanks in advance,
Mauro

Jennie,
Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten
Id get pics as Jennie said and start on malachite green. I had two discus that did exactly what you say yours are doing and they both died three days later from an unexplained bacteria or something. One of the two developed soars while both lost slime coats and ended in death with numerous things tried.
As to the pleco, do wc and even if camera isnt best. Some kind of pic is better than none at all.
Drop from 82 to 81 is not a big deal. Scratching and white dots sound like ich which is not very hard to treat. Do you treat your water?

It also seems as though you skipped quarantine. Pictures will also help.

Lost home connection, so no photo and I will be quick. I did WC. I treat water only with prime. Yes, I skipped Q for pleco. I am the only one resposible for this. But can someone please tell what to do? I started to increase temp to 86. Should I add salt?
Your tank mates will not tolerate salt or malachite green well.
Quick Cure, formalin and malachite green, is very effective at dealing with ich or most protozoa. Again, this will still not be handled well by your tank mates. You can use half the recommended dose, per instructions on the quick cure bottle but it may take longer to deal with.

It can affect bio filtration if overdosed but not if used at proper amount, per water volume, not tank volume.
No, do not increase temp, keep at 82f. Make sure you have good air in the tank.
