ehh its on light strip and around top. Its pretty much water line and where the bubbles from hydro would hit light. I used vinegar and water on napkin and it came off. Figure it was just calcium buildup

yeah im planning on getting a ro/di unit in a few weeks. I am very much aware my water sucks!!! 8.1 ph to start and a whole lot of hardness. hopefully my ro/di will 0 out the hardness and get the ph to at least 7.6

Hard water is OK for grow out. My water is really hard with a ph 8.2. I've been keeping discus in this water for the past 8 years. Soft water is required for breeding.

Vinegar and water works great. My guess is you probably see it worse on your heaters? Another reason why I use a mix of tap/ro.

Mineral stains can be easy, or impossible to remove, depending on minerals in the water. I have extremely soft water, and still get mineral stains that nothing will remove. I've tried.

well they are some on my heaters yes but not as bad. These mineral stains are very very hard to remove lol. I had to scrub for around 30 minutes. As I mentioned I have horrible water.
