i see that you're using black silicone in your breeding tanks... doesn't fry go to black spots? aren;t you worried they will be all around the tank and not the parents?

I really love tanks like that. I wish we could find them standard here in the states. What are the dimensions of them? I'd probably have to get them custom made.

Na its only black caping on the corners so the glass doesnt chip, hardly visable from the inside.

I got these tanks custom built, they are just bigger than 2x18x18 because the stand was measured and we allowed for the insulation on 3 sides aswell as the base.

this stuff is standard in europe, nobody would bother with cheap crap that is made comercially in the states, that's why I built my cube and will be buidling a few more

Cool Re: My New Fish Breeding Project

Ordered our first lot of fish today, they should be here 4-5 days. So i can drop them in our pair off tank and see what happens.

    Cheers

Wow, that is a very nice setup!!!

One thing you may want to account for in calculations is when you have to take a breeder tank (or 2) off the central system due to spawning, eggs (covered, w/meth blue), free swimmers, etc. Sometimes you may have to adjust the sump and/or output a little.

Really looking forward to seeing this develop!

    Thanks,
    -jim

We will be setting it up with loc line and valves for every tank, we are tossing up what sized sump to go with but the smallest would be 4x2x2 and we will have 2 4x2x2 or bigger for the growout tanks.
