    Default Want'na New Camera

My daughter was over this weekend for Dad's day and bought her new camera which is a Canon Rebel SLR. We took some pictures for the wilds and what a difference between her camera and mine. The colors with her camera are so much vivid. My camera tends to wash the color out. Both pictures taken with flash.

    Her camera.

I like it but you could also adjust the pics on the computer without going out and spending a arm n leg on one. It takes really nice clear pics. Mine is a cheap on that I constantly have blurry pics. I'll take 30 pics and maybe 1 is clear. Its definitly better than the other one I had but I'm broke so I cant be to picky. As long as the job is done. BTW, beautiful discus!!!

Thanks Wendy, the thing I like about my daughter's camera is that the color of the discus are pretty true to the way they look in person.

I have two Olympus. The newer one is a SP-600UZ. The older one is a C-4000 ZOOM. The fish are more tolerance of the older camera as it does not flood them with red light to reduce the red-eye prior to the flash.

I like the looks of the 600 better. I just looked them up but I know its not all about the looks of them it what they can do. I know my fish dont like the red light either. I've been thinking of putting ele. tape over it to see what will happen. They will probably like it better not sure what it would do to pic.

I think the difference between the two cameras has to do with exposure times. If both cameras are set to automatic, the two camera's metering systems are reading it slightly different, giving you two different exposure times, either under, or over exposure. This gives a harsher, or softer effect. If you could set both cameras to manual, and used the same exposure settings, the images would probably look the same.

Nice pics. I'm a DSLR junkie. I can't even look at another camera. If I was going to use a P&S, I might as well use my cell phone

Image quality between a P&S and a DSLR can't even be compared. DSLRs produce amazing clarity that a P&S simply cannot match. If they could, you'd see pros standing on the sidelines of NFL games with a cute pink pocket-sized P&S, instead of a camera that costs $6k and a lens that costs $15k. Or better yet, what if your photographer showed up on your wedding day with a little purple P&S camera?

You completely missed what I was saying. The cheap camera, and the expensive camera's metering systems are different. This gives you a different exposure time on one camera than the other. This is why the colors look warmer on Pat's pictures on one camera, and harsher on the other. They were taken at different exposures. I wasn't talking about the clarity of anything. Put that expensive camera on manual to the same exposure settings as the cheap camera, and it will take the same pictures with harsh colors as the cheap camera, but perhaps a little clearer.
