Talking Thanks Hans for the Santarem Discus!

Just received my Santarem discus yesterday morning and they came in great condition. They are still getting adjusted to their new home but started eating today with really no issues. Customer service is great and Hans even called a little after I received them to make sure they came in and I was happy with my order!

Here are some pics. Sorry for the picture quality it was taken from my iPhone before I went into work this morning. Enjoy!

Full tank shot. Dont worry I dont use the dark board!

They look nice. How big are those guys and what kind of sand are you using?

    Thanks!

They are all 4" and I am using pool filter sand. This tank once had plants so I also have about 1" of organic soil underneath the sand. Was going to take it out but decided to leave it incase I decide to put some swords etc in there, plus that would have been a PITA to remove since it is like mud now!

Awesome I love how the tank is so clean and that dw makes perfect center piece. Very pleasing to the eye IMO.

    Thanks!

After looking at several tanks on here (Simply) I realized that for the size tank I have it would look better and give the discus more room to swim with just DW (hence why I said my tank used to have plants lol), guess some what of a biotop?? Anyways just keeping my fingers crossed and thanks for the kind words

Of course, looks real nice throw in a few plecos or cories and possibly some "accent" fish and you'd be good to go.

Actually already have two Sterbai cory's in there. I have had them since I had this tank as a high tech planted discus tank about eight months ago. Prob will be it for tank mates, discus will be the main feature of this tank with the cory's as the mini clean up crew.

I thought for a sec it looked like 90 lol but 55 is plenty and just the discus with the little clean up crew is nice.

Its weird b/c after I posted the pics I thought the same thing , must be the way I slanted the sand from front to back that gives it that added 45 gallon depth lol

Don't know if you remember my post a week ago about which strain I should get but I was def on the fence about it and happy with the choice I made

    Thanks!

Yes I actually have two canister filters. I have the Eheim 2026 and Eheim 2071, both rocking pre-filters. The green one is the 2026 and the grey is the 2071.

Here is a closer picture of just the tank and the top I made out of egg carton light tiles (so they don't commit suicide lol). Thanks for viewing!
