Any thoughts? Seem pretty good to me right out of the bag. Of course this is my first encounter with discus in person aside from a small discus tank at an LFS near me.

You've got a nice mess of fish there. Feed them well and they'll do fine. You might want to get rid of the substrate until they get closer to adult size. Your tank isn't heavily graveled, but it will retain uneaten food and other debris. If you keep the gravel, clean it daily.
Hi Michael, good looking crew there. In watching your video it appears some of the fish are in a pretty strong current. If so they were expend a lot of energy fighting the current and not growing. Would suggest calming the waters if possible. I see you are only a 1/2 hour from me.
Your discus are talking to you....are you listening

Changed set up a bit since then. No longer have any sand, while it wasn't really collecting debris badly it is still much easier to vacuum bare bottom tank As far as power head in the tank, it was removed few days ago, so water movement is very gentle now, just about 500gph that come in from return pump 1" pipe, which basically sweeps the floor and moves all the dirt to the back wall area, so vacuuming is pretty easy.
