I had some water sprite in my aquarium and they sometimes ripped a few leaves out of it.

Not sure if they will eat veggie's alone but I add red lettuce, spinach to my BH / seafood mix.

Peas is another favorite for BH. I've used squash before too.
My next mix will probably have kale in it (highly nutritious) as well as spirulina.
I've never heard of anyone feeding it straight, but apparently there are some people that feed bananas to juvies straight <shrug>
