Note to self - don't try that again! That would be since I had the baster out I decided to move about a dozen of the fry over to with their mother. I think I got about half of them back out before she picked them off. Dad seems irritated by the fry at this point rather than parenting.

Pushed the cones to the very ends of the tank. Slid the tall skinny driftwood to the right and stuck a homemade angled pvc spawning tube in in the center of the tank. Yea, now the marlboro's are fluttering too. Male turq is shaking like crazy and cleaning cone. Now the females cleaning and shaking. God, somethings got to give soon.

Well, I got no attachment. So I start looking around the tank for survivors and I'm not seeing many. I start looking at the spawning cone and I eventually count 8 fry scurrying about it. So then I look under the sponge filter and have a nice colony of fry scooting about. So I pulled the father and plopped in him with the female. I dropped in another pinch of Hakari First Bites and fired up the bbs hatchery and we'll see if I can raise any of them artificially. I have the water level down to just above the spawning cone. They may like the bit of algae on the edge of the flat top of it. Time to feed adults...

Maybe should have pulled the sponge filter instead of the parent.
If there's nothing in the tank but the parent they will find him.

Between him showing no interest and the small number left I decided to just put the pair back together. This small group has more of less turned into an experiment.

The experiment may turn into a complete flop, but I'm hoping maybe not. Certainly plenty of chance to learn something here first hand.

Unfortunately Jennie, things around here continue to be perplexing. Just absolutely no fish cooperation. The mixed blues spawned, 48 hours one of them chowed them down. Either the RTs aren't spawning or the male is back to his old tricks and eating the eggs as fast as the female lays them...I'm suspecting the later. The other two pairs are spending most of their time hanging out at the adjoining wall checking out each other rather than getting busy. I've got a Paul approved/suggested idea I'm going to implement shortly, we'll see if that invigorates things.

After one of two treatments no change in my "old" adults. It'll be another week and half before the second treatment, and I don't know how long the treatment might actually take. I was thinking it would happen pretty quickly if it was going to make a difference, but when does that ever happen with me and discus. Patience, patience, patience.

On the other hand, one of my growouts laid eggs during the first treatment.
