    Just reading this now.

Al, sorry to hear of your car troubles. Car repair and the used car market is a very shady business. Lots of money to be made. Although I can't see any foul play here, but I make it an active effort to educate myself in auto repair. Even if I can't tackle the job itself, I talk the part and usually get a decent price on repairs.

That said, your transmission didn't fail due to mechanical issues, but rather fluid issues. Water/Coolant usually gets into the transmission through the cooler lines, connected to the radiator. It's possible that your radiator is at fault here, and will also need to be replaced.

What's the update on this? Any good news?

    Shawn

Funny how things work out, as I had car problems on the day of the meet. Bummer!

arrrghhhhh!!!!!!! I freakin haaate transmission probs. After building a fairly stout small block for my pickup the truck ate 6 trannys in four and a half years. finally I got to the point of being able to rebuild it myself and do the swap in less than an hour ( at dads on the lift, on the ground is a whole nother story) it really helps to have an extra case lying around to rebulid when it pukes one......

Ha, we had a van that needed 3 transmissions within a 150,000 mile period..and they were all highway miles!!! and my LHS needed one at 56,000...I bought a subaru..its an awesome car and in the 7 years I've had it...only needed tires and brakes just recently! look into a used tribecca Al. great for trips
    Jennie,
