Thanks Darrell, Bill and Wendy! All wishes and prayers gladly accepted. I am finding out that two arms and hands are waaay better than only one. I will now really appreciate both when I have full use of my left one again (hopefully). Darrell, how do the bolts, pins and wires work??? Any pain?
Barb
No, not really pain, but it's way more fragile than it was before. A slight bump now hurts briefly, and it's not as strong as before. To make it work again, first they removed all the bone fragments. Bolts were placed on each side of the bone, upper, and lower. These bolts will hold the ends of the wires. Pins were then placed at the ends of the upper and lower bones where the bones for the elbow used to be. Wire was then attached to the upper bolts, and across the pins to the lower bolts. The wires ride up and down on the pins as you move your arm, allowing movement while keeping tenison on the wires, and holding the whole arm together. It allows me about 98% of movement. Otherwise I would have zero movement, but it took a couple of months of rather painful PT to get it going. I'm very thankful to the team that patched me up.

All the best for your operation..
Good luck with the surgery, I'll be watching for your return to purchase another breeding cone.
Thank you Jorge, Rod, Peter, John and Dennis! With you all thinking of me I feel sure the surgery will be a success. If Darrell is doing fine with his bionic elbow after what he went through, I should heal up quick, I hope. I am making a batch of cones right now, slowly with mostly my right hand and arm. I will have some ready to send off in 2-3 weeks if anyone wants to add their order now. Thank you all, you are a great bunch of people here at SD and I am proud to know you all!
Barb
Best of luck, soon-to-be bionic woman! Hope all goes well and recovery is rapid and smooth.

Want to hear my sad story from today? I was told I had to get a flu shot. Got it in my good arm, done very carefully by an experienced shot-giver. Now my right arm is so sore I can hardly move it. I guess my arm has the flu. Now, two painful arms.
Barb
Ouch!...Hope ya have a speedy recovery!!...I have a stainless steel and Teflon Radial Head replacement..( artificial lower elbow joint)....really stinks, so heal up what ya have, and skip the replacement parts 'till the technology gets better....Gary
