[QUOTE=mmorris;816503]Thanks Liz. They have fry now so new pics wouldn't be any better, I'm afraid. The cobalt color really is lovely. The last pic is of some older siblings, free-swimming the end of July. The photo was taken around six weeks ago.

Martha, the kids show more promise than the parents. (no, I was not looking at their darkened color) This has happened to me. My kids are often better than their parents. What we get out of the fish can depend more on what we put into them and how hard we cull than their genetics. I hope that you plan to keep the best for yourself. It's what I do. It's what a breeder HAS to do.

pm sent and thank you, Hendri. Liz, I kept the best out of a previous batch so the best in this batch are for sale. If only I had a bigger fish room...more resources...more time...Isn't that the way it is? I've kept the best rc's, the best browns, the best cobalts, the best bs's, the best...sigh

Looking forward to meeting you Thursday, Adam.

Blue SSs crossed with a brown based red makes for some varied and interesting fish. Perhaps since you don't live in Asia and are not able to do it all you should concentrate on what most rings your bell.

Tell me more, Liz! I'm growing out some bss and my browns are from rc parents. The browns are every bit as red as the rc. I suppose that's not what you meant by brown based reds?

Do a search for Eddie's Solid SSs. IMO they were a cross between a brown based red and a SS. A cross like that is as variable as a BD SS cross. You might need to cross sib to sib before the SS gene showed up. I'm not sure. My feeling is the best cross would be to a barless brown based red but I'm just guessing. Rod would know. He knows all that stuff.

If you are going to pay $60 for shipping you might as well get a proper sized group to make it worth it.
