Mauro, shimmying is when the pair will gently shake their body which looks like they are saying no. You can see it as a subtle rippling effect in the top fins. In the video below, the female is shaking at the male a couple of times in the video. She is the one on the left. Watch carefully as the shimmy is easy to miss.

Thanks for posting the beautiful video, Pat. Gourgeous green pair. That is so cool! No, my Cuipeuas are not shimmying yet. I think they are still very young and still "learning" how to do it. I will keep everyone posted about any new development.

Mauro, I thought my greens were too young....NOT. Guessing they are between 18 to 24 months old. How old do you think your guys are?

Hard to know. But I chose the medium sized discus, instead of extra large ones, when I visited WB Sabby´s hatchery.

    Mauro,

The smaller size are young adults, I prefer those over any XL fish because you never know if they are old fish

I would tend to estimate based on external characteristics of the same size fish I received from WBSabby that they are approximately 10-12 months old. My original group from 2 years ago took about 10 months for a pair to form and begin pre-spawning activity. If you have had these for 7 months I would say that they are getting close and you may see activity increase in the next month or two.

Thanks, Mark. Actually, they have been almost 12 months with me. The thread is getting old They have been showing some pre-spawning activity for at least two months, but this is the first time they started cleaning the breading cone.
