I chose Reddy, seems to be the one with most red potential at this point and I love the clean body look. Big Star came in second for me, I personally don't like royals who have spots on the face, I'd rather striations on the face. Call me crazy, but it clashes to much with the rest of the fish. But nice fish all around.

Very nice group of fish. I was between the first and sixth. Congrats and good luck with them! Nice pictures, by the way.

Yes, Reddy is showing great potential. That is why I said it was my favorite. But as Bugman I do not have a problem with Big Star's spots

Thank you, Barb. As you can see in the video, your beautiful glazed cone blended very well with the other elements of the tank.

I think it is a male, since it joined fish 3 for a while cleaning the intake tube of my canister filter. There were never eggs, though.
By the way, some of my fish also show a lot of bars in the back. I asked a question to Hans about discus breeding and he said that showing bars in the back could be a sign that the fish may be ready to breed, but don't know. I don't see any of my fish interested in breeding.

What Hans said makes a lot of sense. Big Royal started showing his back bars when he joined Yellowish in the cleaning of the filter's intake and in chasing other fish out of the area. However, your fish are showing the same bars but no breading behavior. May be others who keep wilds could jump in here. Thanks for your input.

    Hi everyone,

I decided to post more pics. Here is another of the group:

To help folks choose their favorite Cuipeua, I am adding new photos of the three that are getting more votes in the poll:

    6. Big Star

    1. Big Royal

    2. Reddy

    Talking about tankmates

I forgot to introduce the Cuipeuas' tankmates. Here are the Lemon Tetras:

I love them, great schooling fish. I have 10 of them. They are much more colorful now, but the poor quality of my camera does not allow you to realize that. And here are my Corydoras Oiapoquensis:

I have four in the tank. They are similar but more beautiful than Pandas IMHO. However, they are terribly shy and spend most of the time in a corner. They get very scared when they see any movement near the tank. After I purchased them I did some online research and found that they seem to be more timid that other cories.

That is what I have for now. This weekend I will put Big Royal and Yellowish in a 25g breeding tank. Let's see if something happens.

Great pics! Very nice. You need to get some more corys. Get at least 10 more. :-)

That would be great, but I am afraid of increasing the bioload. I travel a lot and sometimes can't do water changes as frequent as I wish I could. Besides, I don't want to go through the whole quarentine routine. Call me lazy

    Thank you, Jorge.

I am adding more pictures and a small update. First, another pic of a group gathering:

Then a small update. As announced, I put Big Royal and Yellowish in a 25g breeding tank. They had been cleaning the intake of the canister filter for a long time and I thought I would give them some privacy in a separage tank. However, after getting some advice in the "Breeding Discus" section I learned that it is better to let them spawn in a group setting first few times before putting them in a breeding tank (did not know that). So I brought them back to the display tank but decided to add another breeding cone. If you saw the video, you noticed a nice glazed cone. Here is a pic of the cone:

That cone was made by Barb Odgers, a sponsor here in forum. It is a terrific artpiece. However, Yellowish and Big Royal have been ignoring it, so I decided to add another cone from Barb, one that is not glazed:

I hope the couple will get interested in the new cone.

Finally, a panoramic shot of the tank with both cones:

Wish me good luck. Thanks for looking.
