Silver Dollars love live plants-yum, yum.
Would they work together? I was also wondering if the Silver Dollars eat live plants?

That's what I thought might be the case, never had one so wasn't sure.

Not a good choice. In fact, I call it a bad choice.

So shouldn't this have been put in the Beginners section, a veggie fish in a planted tank?!!!
Cheap fish with expensive fish = No
Silver Dollar will eat all the food
I personally love Silver dollars......Have a group in a separate tank.......As stated by others, not good idea to combine the two......They are too active and will steal all the food from the discus. Best kept in separate tank.

You wont wanna wake up with a planted tank with silver dollars
I'm new to this forum & it"s good to see there are so many so willing to share their experiences/opinions.
I will be starting a tank journal after the first of the year. Changing my 180 reef to planted Discus tank.
This is what it looked like. Already have my driftwood, sand & rocks. Been checking out fish I haven't had before.
Beautiful job on the reef tank, that must have been hard to let go (something I haven't mastered yet, I'm still hanging onto some of my saltwater stuff (moray eels, harlequin tusk, purple tang, seahorses, etc). Have fun with the discus, you'll find them addicting as well.
wow!
