Re: please rate my San Merah
We need a straight profile of each side, no angle shot. San Merah's have no visible bars, either.

Re: please rate my San Merah
1.eyes .3 Really hard to tell but the pupil looks a little egg shaped.
2.shape .4 Several small issues. Hump in forehead. Mouth a little beaky, Entire face seems a little off
3.pattern .5 Lookslike it should.
4.Lack of Blemishes .6
5.strain .6
6.Finage .3 Issue with the transition of the hard rays in the dorsal
7.Roundness .5
8.coloration .7
9.Body .7
10.presentation .6
5.2. Nice fish. Remember 5.0 is average. It is obvious that the fish is well taken care of. If the face was a little nicer it could of scored higher. Better pictures probably would have helped him out.

Your discus lost points because 1) pattern - San Merahs have no visible stress bars. Therefore 2)strain - it has visible bars. San Merahs don't. 3) color - It appears to be artificially red. Could be the lighting, but it appears even the pectoral fins are tinged with red. They should be clear. A darker halo and face would be better, and apparently, the entire spawns are sold as San Merahs, bars and all.
6.5" in length, TL is not impressive, a 6.5 SL would have been. You didn't specify, so I had to assume the lesser.
Had this fish been a rose red or virgin red, it would not have lost those points. Its not a bad fish. Looks healthy, too. It is just not a good representation of a San Merah. You said it was sold to you as such. Either the seller doesn't know what a San Merah is or sold it anyway. Spawns of San Merahs do not breed 100% true from what I see, just like Snakeskins.

Good point on the color Mat. In my rush to judge the fish on my way out the door yesterday I missed that. That folks is why we have more than one judge at a NADA show. It keeps everyone straight.
