    Josie,
Tapeworms are a bit different than many other " worms". Its not advantageous for them to kill a host in any way quickly....They have to have time to grow and start shedding body segments called proglottids. These are loaded with eggs.... Tapeworms themselves attach to the walls of the intestines and feed off the fishes nutrients...growing longer until pieces start breaking off. Most often there is no sign of problem unless they start passing segments or rarely grow so long and numerous that they block the gut... The ones I documented in that article I linked were up to 11 inches.

One sign of a tapeworm is the fish eats like a fiend but does not grow.

Al's link said to do this as a bath

"100mg/10 gallons (1/4 teaspoon/20 gallons). Allow medication to remain in the tank for 48 hours. Mechanical filter may be running - no carbon or other chemical media. On the third day, begin daily water changes of 10 to 30% for the next five days. On the seventh day repeat the entire process. On day 14 a third treatment may begin. This would be prudent for tanks with gravel substrate , and no undergravel filter"

I did my bath a little different I did 1/2 teaspoon/20 gallons for 48 hrs of prazipro then did large WC for 3 days then dosed again for another 48 hrs. Not sure if I should wait a few weeks and dose again are not. Plus since I always seem to have prazipro on hand I have been for the last two years running any new fish thru a bath while in QT.

I would do it again in a few weeks to a month. I thought I cleared all my discus. Both tanks treated the same twice. Then a month to 6 weeks later? (can't remember for sure, old age) I treated both tanks again. One tank clean , the other tank loads of them again. So then I waited another month or so and treated again and all was clean.
    Growth spurt after that.....
