Ordering some Prazi asap. Thanks Josie.
I am going to treat with levamisole after reading this. Thank you Josie!
I have a question. Does the wormer make them pass dead worms or live worms? DO I have to worry about bleaching python cleaners and buckets after worming if my fish pass this nastiness? I am thinking of worming my Angels now after I just had some sick ones that I had for 6 months without incident. Then all the sudden. I am a little grossed out.
good stuff. i will treat my fishes asap.
I've been trying to find the best treatment length for Prazi against tapeworms.
From what I've been reading in this thread, you treated for 24 hours, 50% water change and redosed the changed water, for a treatment of 48 hours. Big water changes over the next days to get the Prazi out of the water. Then you did another identical treatment 7 days later.
Does this sound ok?
Josie,
I think I see an occasional tapeworm floating in my tank, 2-3". I found this thread and have a couple of questions.
You were worming when you found the worms. I've kept dogs for years and an annual worming is routine. Do you do annual worming with discus?
Having seen what looks like the random worm here and there for months, possibly from different fish, what treatment, if any, would you recommend? They eat normally, but I don't want them to be stunted by tapeworms.
I saw that you treated with Prazipro after the worming med. Do I need both or will one med handle it?
Thanks
I use praziquantel only. If worms come out, then I do it again after weeks. Usually they are then clean, unless feeding live foods or introducing other fish that have worms.
I usually do this with new fish or fish that don't seem to grow well.

Do I do anual worming? Yes and no....LOL..I will treat New comers to the Hatchery from during quarantine. And once a year I will do a Levamisol treatment.

Tapeworm in my experience comes out in clumps like spaghetti, If your worried I would get some Prazi-pro and treat the tank wait three-ish days if you see stuff coming out treat again. Or like Ardan stated you can use Paziquantrel powder but I personally have had better luck with Pari-pro for tape worms.

just one will work fine
