    Question Blue Rams/Gold Rams W/Discus H E L P

Just wanted to ask a quick question and hope I didn't screw up good. I have two gold rams and two blue rams with my Discus, they are all get along terrific. The Discus don't pay any attention to them and vise versa. My question is this. Will those rams be able to tolerate a Discus Diet? I am worried they will stuff themselves to death here. My Discus are still juveniles and get fed alot, will these little fish know when to stop eating? They are piglets and I am worried now. Thanks for any help. I always put the cart before the horse sigh sigh. Julia

They should be fine. I have German Blues & Gold Rams in my 120 w/o any issues w/ my Discus. I see the rams pushing each other around now & than but that's it. The Discus don't seem 2 care. They have been in the tank 4 about a year. So, u'll b good.

Take a look & Good Luck

The rams should be fine and not over eat. I had a betta with my discus that couldn't say no to the food but the ram is fine.

I will second the statement made by rostick555..... if feeding CBW, and the rams get a bunch of them....it can lead to bloat...

Depends on your discus diet. Feeding Beefheart daily can cause bloating in Rams & corys.

Sigh.....I see you all have ups and down with this issue. So far my blue rams are horrid piglets and the gold rams seem to be able to maintain without stuffing themselves, I imagine I am going to lose a few over time, I will keep this thread up to date as things go forward. Darnit!!!!!! Jules

Well ........I lost two blue rams. I saw it coming a mile away. Bloated bellies from the Discus diet and I am like sigh. I have two golden rams that don't seem to be affected by the Discus diet at all tho, is this odd? I am going to sit and do some reading about what other tank mates will be able to handle the temp and food situation. Right now I am on HOLD with getting anymore fish, had them to long to get my money back see? I do have another question and wondering if I should post it here or start a new thread. I hate to hijack someone else's thread asking. Julia

try apisto's julia they are beautiful and can live with discus. there are hundreds of apisto's goodluck picking.

and dont feel so bad. blue rams can be tricky to keep. sometimes they can die for no reason. and there life
    span are pretty short

I have had Apisto, they are gorgeous fish, I had a trio of cacatuoides orange flash. Thanks for letting me know they would be better tank mates. The only problem with Apisto is they are hard to find here and I had to get them from aquabid and I don't want to mess with that right now until Michigan warms up. I will just see how these two remaining gold rams do and take it from there, thanks NIKON. Jules

You expressed concern about your Blue Rams overeating on a Discus Diet.
Several of us warned you about Blue Rams on a Discus Diet.
Then you continued to keep them together, on the same high protein discus diet, for an additional week, whereby they porked out, bloated and died?
