Default Beef Heart and Turkey Mix

Im getting many PMs asking me what what my Beef heart Mix is so here it goes:

1, Three pounds of Beef Heart (Cleaned deveined and all the fat off, make sure when cleaning the heart all the outside layers and the arterys are off)
2, One an half pounds sea Cod (make sure that the cod is not farmed raised you want the wild caught)
3, Half a pound of shrimp (make sure the shrimp is wild caught not farm raised)
4, One cup of Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef Flake Food
5, One cup of Spirulina flakes ( make sure that the flakes are pure and not mixed with other stuff)
6, One cup of Loose freeze dried black worms
7, One tablespoon of Nori Powder ( you can get Nori powder from Forest or go to a local Asian market)
8, One tables spoon of Astaxanthin Powder
9, One half table spoon of Pro-Growth from Andrew Soh ( I use the Pro -More for my breeders)
10, Omega-3 Fish oil (soft gel tabs just poke a hole and drain the contents over your mix)
11, Three tabs of Multivitamin and one tab of vitamin C ( I grind to a powder in a coffee grinder)

Place all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix very well( I found the best way to mix everything is with my hands) Next put portions in a food processor on high stopping a few times to take a spatula to push contents down. Your mix should look pasty and you'll be all done. Next I put contents in Freezer bags and roll them with a rolling pin. Take out what you need for a couple of days and feed with thawed product.

For the Turkey mix I substitute my Beef heart with three pounds of group turkey.
I use turkey breast and my butcher buts the turkey breast through the meat grinder twice for me.

This is what I do. Hope it helps.......................Josie

You could make it easier and not add the extra vitamins if you are adding the pro-more or pro-growth.

    Hi Josie,

Thanks for posting the recipe. Just a question, isn't the addition of the freeze dried black worms and one of either of the cups of flakes overkill? I thought the flakes (chose one) is for one feeding, the freeze dried worms another feeding. I hate to see you waste your money by adding too many ingredients (worms are not cheap).

I think adding one cup of flakes to help bind with the shrimp and cod is good but not 2.

All in all a great recipe.

Im not an expert by any stretch of the imagination but I use the flakes because I have a hard time getting my fish to eat them and I use the worms to entice them to eat the mix. but yes its probably an over kill.............Josie

Thanks Josie for response as everyone can surely benefit from trial and error methods when it comes to producing your own foods. I myself tried the ground beef method and the fish are 50/50 after one week of trying it. Some attack it like they haven't ate in weeks and some just look right past it.

Just as I was told once before that too many ingredients is overkill. I do like the addition of the Pro-More, I just used the flakes with it already in it.
