Dear Simplydiscus members,
Last month, I was approached by Johnnathan from John's Discus and his Supplier,Winson Lau ,with a very generous offer. They wanted to donate to the forum some very nice adult fish. These would be used to generate revenue for the board. Private contributions like this are important to forum and I was really grateful for the offer and think that John and Winson were extremely generous in this. Instead of auctioning the fish off to raise money for the forum we came up with a better idea. We decided to GIVE AWAY the fish... Thats right you heard me correct. WE are giving away these beautiful Adult Discus at no cost to the lucky winners. WE will do 2 main drawings... one for a group of 2 Adult Reds and one for a group of 3 spotted adults. Johnnathan and Winson will be giving these fish to the forum as part of our 10 year anniversary. Additionally, The forum is going to pay for shipping.. The Lucky winners will have absolutely no cost here. I wanted to do something special for the forum and Thanks to John and Winson I am able to do that! Thanks Guys!!! The way we will do this is a lottery, one ticket per registered member.There is no cost for your Ticket. When I say Free I mean FREE !!!!!The cutoff for registration to the forum was yesterday,April10. If you remember a little while back I made a plea to lurkers and unregistered guests to register...Now you know why! Due to the nature of shipping fish and customs John can't shipped to any other point but in the USA....he can however send these fish to a Fedex station to be held for pickup should one of our Canadian members wish to drive across the border and pickup the fish. Keep that in mind.

As for the rest of the world. I really wish I could ship you fish, but I can't. However, Aquaticsuppliers.com wants to join in the fun. I will personally be giving away a total of 1 kg of my Freeze Dried Australian Blackworms . These I will send out in 100 gram quantities to 10 lucky winners. They will have the choice of Loose or cubed... and they will be free, shipping included. I can and do ship to most points internationally. If for some reason you have been living under a rock and haven't heard of Freeze Dried Australian Blackworms... you can read about them here.


So to recap.... Members will have an opportunity to win one of two groups of beautiful adult fish, or one of 10 bags of 100 gram Freeze Dried Australian Blackworms. I will expand the give away if I can as well.


I will post more details on how to obtain your ticket, and the drawing will be at the end of April. Most likely It will take place at the NEDA (North East Discus Association's Meeting) on April 28, If thats okay with the host, JimG.

So watch this thread for more news, and for pics of the fish that John will be posting. Please do not pm me about tickets yet...I'll post when I have that worked out and the give-away begins.

One thing, shouldn't a member need to be active within a certain time period to be eligable? For instance a registered member that joined in 2005, posted three times, and has never been heard from again might be a nightmare to track down.

Members won't automatically get a ticket..They'll have to ask for one..register name, address, and contact info...I won't be sending out a Global email to everyone here either to tell them about the giveaway...You snooze, you lose.
