Yea, mine swings too, 7.4 to 8.2 so some difference.
The pH swing. Out of tap it is 7.6... aged it is 8.4

Pat....what do you think about the point she made that when she used PP, it made that water crystal clear?

"Don't believe everything you think." Amish proverb
Since we are on the topic:
This is a direct quote that I got from a PM Eddie sent me last night. i had asked him if it was necessary to age water if I do not have a pH swing or microbubbles.....
"Most water sources have gas in it, air. This makes pressure differences in the water that will stress your fish. Although the fish may seem fine, we only see the stress from the difference in water parameters when problems arise. The less stress on the fish, the better. And its not so much that its A MUST for everyone, but if people are having problems with their fish, aging water is the simplest and first course of action if they are not aging. Because in essence, using a medication is only treating symptoms of an underlying problem. If water is stressing the fish, either changes in pressure, temperature, PH, KH, GH.....then that WILL affect the health of the fish in the long run. Weakening them and allowing them to fall ill. Its not a theory, but a known fact by many many years of discus keepers, long before ANY of us."

Fran, my experience with PP is rather limited but it is ...
Potassium Permanganate (KMnO4) or PP for short, is one of the most useful of all medicines an aquarist can have in his/her fish medicine cabinet. PP is effective against external fungi, bacteria and parasites, including gill flukes. It is relatively safe and very effective. It can also be used as a steriliser and an oxidiser of organic compounds.

Could be the PP oxidized the cloudiness away. Problem is to id the source of the cloudiness and hopefully what it is. My guess for the sponsor suggesting to PP the WC container would be to ensure they were clean prior to use.

lol Ok so whats causing the cloudiness? lol I just feel terrible replacing nice clear water with cloudy water.

That is great advice OC, Eddie for sure know his stuff and he has certainly been exposed to many water sources in all his travels. Only brain storming here to try and help.

I don't think my new fish from Kenny like this water either. Everyone else posts how they are lively and active. They are not. I'm sure it has to do with water quality.

Teshi it sounds like your tank is going through a mini cycle when you change the water.....Josie
I use brute containers and use prime when adding to my age tanks My pH also comes out at 7.4 and after aging it jumps to 8.2 so I don't think that the problem....
its not the tank water. Its the water from the holding barrels.
I know my tank is going through a cycle. Kenny had me PP the heck out of my tank to kill anything in it and he sent me a cycled filter with my fish. He also instructed me to do 80% H2O changes until things settle down.
The trouble I'm having isn't in the tank. ITs from the holding barrels.. the tank water is clear when I take it out but the water I add from the aged barrel is cloudy.

I'm just curious did you PP the plastic brute and if so why?
Yes I did PP my Brutes. I had told Kenny about my cloudy water, he thought maybe there was some kind of bacteria in there and to either PP it or use bleach but he suggested the PP instead. So I did like he suggested PP to a dk purple.. drain, rinse, fill add H2O2 in case any was left... drain, and fill as usual.

Margaret, are your brutes the commercial grade containers?
Your discus are talking to you....are you listening
Yes they are the grey commercial grade.
