    Default AC 110 New Convert

When I've been using a hob on my tanks I've been using Emperor 400's and 280's.Saw a good deal on an AC110 new and,I don't need another filter, and don't really have the funds,so of course I bought it.This ain't no stop the presses,I'm just a little late to the party.I was really impressed when I forgot to unplug it during a water change.m_picture 11 298.jpgThat's on a 135gal,down to the tops of the sponges, thru 4 tube extentions. One less thing I have to do after a wc is re-prime the pump.

Bill, it will keep on going if it does not lose it's siphon. You will need to refill the filter box if you do lose the siphon but the pump is strong enough to re-prime itself from that point.

Yeah,I knew that because I was in the habit of unplugging the 400's,so I unplugged this the first few times.I just forgot this time.Well before this level, the 400 would start sounding like a coffee grinder.

I leave mine on during WC's too. I think it helps gas off the microbubbles a bit. Extra splashing.

I let mine start sucking air before i unplug it during a water change. When i refill the tank, up to the point the bottom of the tube is covered, I plug it back in and it starts going.

I have loved Aquaclears since buying my first one around 1987. When the Emperor 400 I have finally poops out, I will get a AC 110 for the 75 gallon. I never had one die on me.

    Bill,

My AC110 is about 3 years old now and mine does the same thing. I can drop water all the way like yours and still runs. So you will hopefully get the longevity out of yours like mine.

AC 110 is only one I use on my tanks - I do 80% water changes daily and it will continue its flow - great feature
I only use the marineland HOB's on my storage tanks

I really liked that idea of the sponge filter hooked up to the filter. I rigged mine up to my cascade canister filter. Took a few modifications to get all the pieces together, but she fit. Hopefully it will work now!

I received a Emperor 400 with my used 75 gallon a few months ago. I used the Emperor and had to replace the impeller and several other parts in order to quiet it down. I just was never happy with the water quality using that filter, even with a hydrosponge 5 and a Tetera Double type in the tank.

I saw a Aquaclear 70 on EBay at a price I could not refuse sold by PetSolutions. I went ahead with the buy it now and much to my surprise it arrived the next day!

Now my water is crystal clear and looks polished. I love Aquaclears! Bye bye Penguin.

I like the penguins bio-whell idea. But for the amount of tanks I have now,all with sponges,I just like the horsepower of the ac's in a grow-out tank or anything bigger then 100gals.

I agree with Bill about the bio wheel. I still have a few 280's around but use the AC 110's - easy maintenance - re-usable filter media - very good HOB
