Babies are getting more independent...actively searching for food. With the poo and food water changes are up to at least 2 x a day, Ive become a bit obsessed with it, as the laundry piles up.

What great pics you have taken of them, lots of good fish care shows. Good luck!

Eating some NLS Grow. They also tried first bites today, they liked that. Some could eat the grow, some struggled. They are at day 14 freeswimming, and are swimming to the glass when they are ready to eat. Moving them to their own digs tomorrow.

Fry are in their own tank now. Left them in a little too long and parents are worn out. They were in 16 days free swimming and it's a pretty good size spawn so dad looks beat up. But I had a week long tooth abcess debacle so you know how plans go to crap really quick. They are eating cyclops, frozen bbs, ground fdwb, hikari first bites and pulverized flakes CONSTANTLY. These guys can EAT! One baby even tried to steal a big fdbw from mama yesterday. Didnt work out for the baby, mom won lol. Pics tonight of their new digs.

Forgot to add...have only 2 fry lost that I know of, both human error. Found one dried up in the net, another died after transfer last night, think I squished it. Culling will start next week I assume. No belly sliders, believe I may have one with an obvious defect-bent spine.

Did some measuring. About 2 1/2 weeks free swimming, 1/2 inch total length, is this on track? I measured one fry out of the water but didnt get a clear pic.
