i use food processor with 500 Watt Motor,if the food processor's power is too small,it's easy to burn when processing shrimp or squid.and high power food processor can grind other vegetable into very find past or powder.

I use the grinder and a heavy duty mixer. I already had the mixer so why not put it to use. I like to grind up all the beefheart, salmon and shrimp and put them in separate bowls. I make such a large quanity that it all won't fit in one big bowl. Since they are in individual bowls I can easily split it into say thirds to come up with three mixed bowls. Another reason I like doing it this way is because I sometimes like to make a batch with a med in it or a batch with ProMore or ProGrowth in it. Having three separate mixes allows me to do that. I then will run each bowl through the mixer with whatever other ingredients I want to add like a good flake food, ect. Then it goes in a heavy duty freezer bag and flatened to about 1/8" to 1/4" so once frozen it can easily be broken off for feeding.

+1 on that Northern Tool Grinder.

That mixers is also the same one I got to use for making jerky and what not. I cannot stop the thing no matter how fast I am feeding it. Also for jerky, we grind meat, add seasonings, and then re-grind it again to mix it up well. Now I will have to try and find some beef hearts locally.

I have never used for it making beefheart for my fishes yet, but do plan on it. I would think with the smaller plate it would be ok with just running it through once. It comes out fairly small. Can prob get smaller plates for it as well, but it grind through the meat FAST so even if you did have to do it 2 times it wouldnt take long at all. I would say that it takes me around 2-3 min to run through around 15lbs of venison....... if that long. Hope that helps you out some.

Skip, I almost always run the beefheart through twice just to be sure but I can't tell you if that is really necessary. It is so quick that it is easy to make the second pass.

I use one like the Northern tool one - got it at Lowes on sale for 80.00. Run thru twice but it's easy the second time more like a good mixing..

Have a hand crank one I'll give you...after it came off the counter took two people to finish and wasted 1/2 a batch I was done!
