I moved three from the kiddie pool (smaller fry) to the juvie tank. The three I moved were all 2 and 1/4 inches (measured them). So either splitting the group is helping the smaller ones catch up (already?) or I am under estimating the size of the smaller fry.

I tend to do the same thing, then one day I put the growouts in with my adults and wholly Cr**, they are larger than the adults...lol.
One a side note, rather than move the largest and place them into a tank making them the smallest, I would move the smallest into another tank and make them the largest if possible. I like to keep my alpha's, well, alpha's!

Rick, I sort of did as you suggest. I split the first spawn into two tanks. The smaller ones remained in the 40 and the larger ones went into a 75. Today I moved three of the larger fry in the 40 to the 75. The fry I moved are only slightly smaller then the fry already in the 75. When I eyeball the fry in the 75 I believe I can id the three added today.

The color development in some of these fry has me pretty excited, to the blue hue showing in the body to the color forming in the fins.

Still working 12 hours most days, but have been moved in for a while. Been mostly enjoying messing with some Angus cattle I got recently, ran new fence, etc. At this point, it'll probably be winter before I get the busted 240 gal. replaced. LOL! Fish are doing fine, so no rush. May just get another 150 gal. that matches one I already have. Twins! Those little guys of yours will REALLY look great by the end of the summer with much more color and size! Impressive.

Darrell, how much property do you have with the new place? So you are raising your own beef now? I have considering getting three calf's for three months out of the year in order to claim ag status (to lower property taxes). Sell two of the calf's and put the last in the freezer but with the horses just not quite enough property.
BTW there is another spawn. Wigglers are 14 days today. Same female, different male so there is a "Batch B" and agree that these F1 show LOTS of promise

Hi, Pat. I have not had time to keep up lately. Your babies are growing up so nicely. I am happy for you that things are working out well. And now with a second batch...
So the numbers of discus don't count toward ag status??
