If Chicago would ever get there highways and exits fixed (meaning not under construction) chicago would be a great place. Any area outside of the city near chicago would be perfect.

N.Dakota, S.Dakota, Nebraska,Iowa,Illinois and Kansas are the 'farm belt'. Stumped on WI,MI,OH(part of the 'rust belt'.),MO(considered 'the south' during the War of Northern Agression)..

Depends on if you want to base your definition on current geography or historical accuracy. The region was given its name long before the far west was settled and travelers were most often starting from the North East coast.
