If Chicago would ever get there highways and exits fixed (meaning not under construction) chicago would be a great place. Any area outside of the city near chicago would be perfect.

Hmm, you folks have an 'interesting' view on where the 'Midwest' is..I joined the Midwest Aquarist Society in 1960, located in Omaha,NE.... N.Dakota, S.Dakota, Nebraska,Iowa,Illinois and Kansas are the 'farm belt'. Stumped on WI,MI,OH(part of the 'rust belt'.),MO(considered 'the south' during the War of Northern Agression)..

Depends on if you want to base your definition on current geography or historical accuracy. The region was given its name long before the far west was settled and travelers were most often starting from the North East coast. Many of these areas you are refering to are actually part of the "Great Plains States".
