Alright, Let start discussion on a first meeting date. Josie said that she would host the first one so after we choose a date it will be pending untill she ok's it. October works for me except the last week and november looks pretty open as well. These are just suggestions it doesn't mean we HAVE to have it in those months. Love you hear others inputs. Thanks!

So to take this thread a somewhat different direction, put certainly in line with the subject line. RockRiverFish (Dan) is a member of both the Madison and Milwaukee fish clubs. He's kept (is keeping?) and bred a multitude of different fish species. He's a planner and organizer, and was I believe a big part of the ACA show happening up here a couple years ago. So he's my nominee to lead this venture.

Depends on if you want to base your definition on current geography or historical accuracy. The region was given its name long before the far west was settled and travelers were most often starting from the North East coast. Many of these areas you are refering to are actually part of the "Great Plains States".

Gary's Midwest is more in-line with what comes to my mind. I spend allot of time at the Midwest Cichlid ***. site and most of the members I see are from Ne,Mn and Ia. lol apparently my association abbreviation was considered a bad word by our site software!

Hi everyone,

I see that Keith has introduced me, so I figured I better get involved. Sorry that it took my a while, but I don't get on-line as often as I would like.

Thanks for the kind words Keith, but I'm just an average hobbiest and a novice when it comes to discus. I keep mostly South American and African cichlids, but I have always had a soft spot for discus and have managed to keep a few alive. I'm a very "small fish" when compared to some of the other members of those clubs.

My home club (Milwaukee Aquarium Society) did host the 2010 ACA convention, but I was mostly just a grunt. I did learn alot from the chairpersons, and would be happy to lend a hand wherever I can.

An October meeting would work for me, and I look forward to meeting everyone in person. I would also be happy to host a future meeting.
