Lost entire fish collection within 15 min. What cause it?

I once saw a documentry about a british band and the bands drummer kept blowing up without reason or cause. This die off could just be a freak act of nature or the work of Aliens or maybe it was the second shooter

I too am in agreeing that the filter shutting may have caused this. The fish were obviously poisoned, but my thoughts are from the die-off in the filter system like Jim stated.

Please READ the entire thread. Water parameters were checked after the poisoning. See the parameters? They would not have been that way if the filter had dumped.

Just because most of you folks have never seen or experienced such an occurrence does not mean it can't happen.

And by that same stunning lack of logic, space aliens could well have been the cause.

What parameters? Did they test for methane/sulfur/ethane/or whatever nasty stuff is produced from a bacteria die off? I could be wrong, but ammonia/nitrites/nitrates/ph are not the only toxins out there. I chalk it up to "stuff happens", and ruling out a bacterial die off hasn't happened. There is probably someone in the science world researching the Krebs cycle or other bacterial cycle out there that know what toxins a typical dieoff of nitrifying bacterial would produce, but I suspect they haven't posted here yet.
