Default A New Beginner from Turkiye

I had started my discus journey 5 months ago. So, I think I shall name it a new beginner since I had learnt most of the things from the forums in the last year.

At first I wanted to make a good looking show tank with sand and plants but I couldn't manage to get good health conditions with jouvies which I started, then the tank went into bareglass. I hope you will like the photos.

I would like to hear positive and mostly negative critics to improve myself in discus hobby.

    My tank is 150 x 60 x 60 cm
Filtration: Eheim2228 (biologial sponge, ceramic rings) and 2213 canister filters (zeolite)
    Heater : 300W (29 C stable heat)
Feeding : Tetra Discus granules x 3, Beef Heart (Home Made mixture) x 2 daily (before WC)
Daily WC and 20% water change in week days. 50% water change in weekends.

Very nice fish. It looks to me like you have a good plan. May I ask, where did you get your fish? I didn't think there were any discus hobbyists in Turkey. Are you in Instambul, Ankara, or another large city?

I ve got my fish from a locak hobbyist breeder. I live in Istanbul, and I think we do have a large community of Discus Lovers in Turkiye.

After a few more months I am planning to switch the tank to a nice looking biotope mostly (if I can manage).

Welcome, and your discus look great. I'm new and still learning also. Reading as much as you can about these fish is the best advice I can give. I have learned so much just reading posts on this forum.

    Hi Pat,

Thanks for your warm wellcome. I am following all the Discus forums and groups from Turkiye, except facebook because of some personal reasons. If it is allowed I can post the links of those forums which has sections for international topics.
