now after living with this for a couple hours I really like it. The fish colors seem more brilliant. I always liked black backgrounds but I'm really happy I did this. Whatcha think?
Okay, I got tired of looking at a black background so decided to finally try out the green thing.
I didn't want to paint right on the aquarium... what if I didn't like it? Then what, peel it off and start over? SO... I got a little crafty and headed to Home Depot. A very nice lady helped me throughout the store when i told her what I wanted to do. She showed me a piece of wood very light, smooth surface, and only 3/8 inch thick. I cut out the size i needed and painted that instead of the back of my tank. I fit it so it sits right on the edge of the black trim of the tank. It is staying in place with the HOB filter and clear postage tape on the 4 corners. I LOVE it. If I ever want to try a new color.. just take it off paint it and put it back on! Here's a few pics. (yep bubbles on tank means w/c)

Looking good! I wanted to do the same but didnt find a smooth enough sheet of wood to do it so ended up painting the back.
I still love my shower curtain liner idea not infinite color options but its so easy, waterproof, and easy to change if desired. I've loved it.

They are of a size that it will my friend, may take a week or up to a month but they will recover and i'm guessing very quickly. You can tell they have good genetics and haven't been in there too terribly long or it would be far worse. Kinda funny, I LOVE black backgrounds honestly bit alas I breed pigeons haha, so no more black for me. The shower curtain was me walking through Walmart just like you did through home depot, I found them and was SO thrilled, it made my life do easy since I thought I was gonna have to rotate fish in and out if buckets to drain their tanks and paint them safely. Literally this saved me days and hell of a lot of pain.

I was going to be a bit more creative and paint some random weed thingies on it too, but after putting it up I like it just like this for now.
