    Josie,

Do you not use the pure aquarium or pure pond in them?

So this filter is essentially a smaller, submersered version of a wet/dry chamber located inside the tank! This is a cool idea! I thought from the earlier video it might be a fluidized sand filter.

    Josie,

Do you find that the square bottles work the best or is that just what you happened to have?

thats exactly what it is works really well once seeded to keep the water clear and the good bacteria flowing.........I use this is my grow-outs and keeps everything in check from all the large water changes ........Josie

Thanks for posting this Josie, I was playing around yesterday and that's very close to what I came up with. So simple yet so effective, the only thing I wasn't sure of was how much water to allow into the container at a time, as in how many holes to drill in the bottle. I just used other plastic media I had around but the K1 media seems to have more surface area, so i'm thinking future versions I'll have to order that stuff. Thanks again Josie! Excellent idea and also a great way to keep seeded media at all times in case of starting up new tanks... You could simply empty half the K1 media from an established bed filter and put it into a new one for a new tank, them refill both with new media to be seeded. I love it.

BTW, those RTs in the tank you put the bottle into are awesome.. great body shape and form.

Where do you buy the K1 media? It seems as though it was engineered for municipal waste management.
