I've use this for two months now with water crystal clear and haven't had to clean it once. Correct me if I'm wrong but this filter cleans itself once it's establish with good bacteria and flowing well.

you are right, the filter should not have to be cleaned i just wipe down the sides of the bottle....josie

thanks Josie for the quick reply......if I am using it for 120 gallons.....do I need a bigger bottle and more K1?.....any help is much appreciated.

You can use two bottles, I treat them like I would a sponge filter if I put two sponge filters in normally then I use two bottles.....Josie

easy to make and works great......Josie
