I really like the one in the second photo down.
Len
The one to watch is in the third photo front and center. Although you can no longer tell, that is a 14 bar fish. Possibly a PB (hard to imagine with that color it not being a pb) but so far clean as a whistle. That and another 14 bar /grey based that did not get a decent profile picture this time around (he is in the third picture facing the back of the tank).

What about the fish in picture 2 as Len mentioned. He looks to have SS gene.
Don't get me wrong - They are all very nice. That particular fish just happens to appeal to me. It's the bright flecks through the fins set against the colour of the body that intrigues me.
Len
LOL, you made me go double check, your right.......I think I can conclusively say tht after chasing him around the tank a bit (to stress him a little) he has more than 9 bars, but I cannot conclusively say he has 14....lol I can count 11 for sure, so I am thinking the other three I just cant pick out (it is hard under the color). I missed this when I selected my eight, working with these crosses I tried to get a representative of each phenotype and not neccesarily the biggest of the batch. The only exceeption to this was batch 1, in which they are all the same phenotype. What about the fish in picture 2 as Len mentioned. He looks to have SS gene.
No worries, I did not take it that way at all. It's funny, until recently this batch did not get a lot of comments, and it has been my favorite batch of the group. but I could never capture what I was seeing in person on camera. Having worked with the Asian Mercury in the past, I knew this batch would be the "wild card"......you just never know what your going to get.Don't get me wrong - They are all very nice. That particular fish just happens to appeal to me. It's the bright flecks through the fins set against the colour of the body that intrigues me.

Nice! I've got my eye on that one!
Really nice Rick. Nice shapes and health, and an interesting mix of discus
I wonder if the APD or the mercury is a snakeskin? or perhaps both are! The bd gene would mask the effect of the ss gene in the mercury, and the no pattern gene of the APD would also effectively mask the ss gene. Nice and interesting cross.
Rod,
Almost positive it is coming from the APD, a previous cross with an ARSG to the same mercury female resulted in no SS offspring.
