Default got a pair of blues breedin...

been a long time since a bred em-kind of forgot how. 30g tank, TDS 72-PH about 6.5. they bred before and always done good-few weeks back the eggs fungused. tank is pretty clean, but not squeaky clean. thinking about addin some meth blue. wondering how much to add, and what to do about W/C afterwards, weather to add more or what. the KH-i have no idea...no measurement kit. and does all the meth blue have to be gone out of tank when they become free swimmin. im going to use the gutter guard to cover them. let me know , thanks for your imputs. ill post a few pics later...

A clean tanks is a great start. I go kind of light on the meth blue. I really only put 2 tsp in a 29g. Seems to work for me. As far as water changes go I might will add more if I do a 50% water change. Once they become wrigglers I do not add any more and just change the water. My fry go free swimming in blue water all the time. It can help with attachment. I would love to say I always cover my eggs, but I have kicked myself once or twice for not covering.

thx...i put maybe 2 tsp in-just a light color of blue-blew it right on the eggs with an airline. i wont do a 50 percent change-but will take out 2-3g a day and get the gradual tap water back. ill add just a bit of blue on every w/c till hatched. i covered them-but just when do i take it off?

I have never blown the meth blue on the eggs in that fashion. I just add it to the tank. I make sure my tds stays low until they become wrigglers. My TDS is normally around 40. I have pairs that do not eat wrigglers so far so I remove the cover when they are wrigglers but I know a lot of people like to keep it on until the actually go free swimming.

Were any of the eggs dark or were they all white?

What is the time frame form spawning to the eggs turning white? And he is obviously not really shooting blanks if some of the eggs turn to wrigglers he is just a bad shot.

Lower your TDs to around 40 and see what happens.
