If the parents want to eat, why not? but don't over feed them
Can I ask you all what your feeding routines are after a pair has spawned, the advice I've been given is to not feed parents until fry are 7 days free swimming. I would be interested to know other people's routine also. Thank you Gemma

That is crazy advice. They are expending all their energy feeding the fry. They need to be fed!! I don't change my routine during any of the breeding process. I don't know why anyone would advise you not to feed them.

Ok great thank you
I was given this info by 3 different breeders over here in the UK, they all said that by feeding the parents as normal it gets them back into condition too quickly after spawning and then they can either eat the fry or abandon them. Discus can go months without eating and so by not feeding for 14 days it focuses them more on the job at hand.
I am new to discus breeding, I have literally just had my first batch of fry go free swimming last night. I'm just trying to get advice from as many different people as possible, to try to work out what is best. I appreciate your response and advice. Thank you

I fed my pairs as normal, with or without fry. Never considered any other way. Water changes may of been different depending on eggs/fry, but never feeding...Bill
I feed them twice a day. I change 50% of the water everyday. The only exception is is the eggs are high in the tank. Then I change as much water as I can without exposing the eggs.
