Zach, honestly I would stick with what you have. In my reading regarding Altums is they get large. In some cases larger then discus and they are delicate (at least the wild ones) and need pure RO water at least starting out. They are also a tall fish as adults and really need a 24 or higher tank.

Do some reading here on simply where people have kept discus and altums together. Seems they end up separating the two as the altums out feed the discus. Now I have not personally kept them (but would if I could offer them their own large tank) so Dale, Mark and perhaps others can give better feedback.

Yeah I hear ya Pat, the 65 is a 24inch tank I believe but it would be crammed either way which is why I'm probably going to just stay with the discus for now. I enjoy them so no real reason to get rid of them but I do want to eventually try altums. Thats one of the things dale mentioned was about the angels gorging themselves on anything possible vs. discus eating gradually... Well except mine who fight over the food lol lol. I will just keep these guys and slowly trade out the heckels for reds come the new season and once I'm in my own home and what not and can fit a 220 or so I will get altums, I just wanted more of a challenge because I love doing what people say is so hard lol.

Well, if you want a challenge keep the heckels and breed the silly things.

Lol yeah but they just don't tickle me the way the others do... Plus there shape isn't that great. Two of them have terribly large fins for the size of the fish. Then there are two with good shape and the pacoval that is nice. I'm hoping to sell the two lesser quality to someone who isn't as anal as me and then get another red or decent heckel. If I'm going to breed them, I'd at least like the breed pretty fish lol

    Hey Zach

Are these the same wilds that you were having a hard with getting to eat your bh mix? Anyway, they're looking good and i'm sure they're more active.
